Hi all I am from Australia and have never been to Disney World but am wanting to take my 2.5 year old. Firstly is it a waste to travel so far for a couple of weeks at disney for a child so young? I do plan on taking her when she is turning 8 for her birthd

    Hi Rebecca,

Thank you for asking this question, it is one of my favorite topics!  "When" is the best time to take your children to Walt Disney World is definitely a question in which people have varying opinions.

Since you mentioned you child's birthday, I assume that you celebrate certain occasions and holidays in you family. Therefore, when considering whether your child is too young to take to Walt Disney World ask yourself these questions: Did you consider not celebrating your child's 2 year old birthday because she may not have remembered all of it? Do you avoid celebrating holidays or taking your daughter places like the zoo until you feel she is old enough to fully understand their meaning?

Your answers are probably "Of course not" to the above questions. As parents, we love makin memories with our children even though they themselves may not fully be able to remember all of the details. I probably have a much better memory of reading Good Night Moon to my oldest daughter when she was a toddler than she does. But my memory of this loving moment is the same reason why all parents celebrate life's occasions with their children and the reason we take them to Walt Disney World when they are 2.5 years old.

I think your daughter is at a great age to make her first visit!  Since she is under 3, she is still "free" too. Some of the magic will be replayed to you again in a few years when you place a photo of your 8 year old daughter standing in front of Cinderella Castle next to one of her at 2.5 years old.

I hope my humble opinion is helpful to you with your vacation plans Rebecca!

    Good luck & Pixie Dust,
