My Aunt is planning a trip to Disney. She has a bunch of old Disney Dollars and wants to know if she can trade them back for the face value cash while she is there.

Hi Asia! Welcome back to planDisney! We always love when you stop by with your great questions, including this one about Disney Dollars.

Your aunt must be a longtime fan of Disney parks because she is fortunate enough to be the holder of some very special memorabilia! First introduced in 1987 by the Walt Disney Company, Disney Dollars were wildly popular until years later when it was announced that they would no longer be printed or sold.

Currently, Disney Dollars cannot be transferred for U.S. currency but can be used at select locations in the theme parks or Disneyland Resort Hotels. The friendly Cast Member I spoke to recommended checking with locations prior to purchase to confirm if they do accept Disney Dollars, as there is no list available for where they are accepted.

Let your aunt know that even though Disneyland's 70th Celebration doesn't officially begin until May 16, 2025, the brand new 70th Anniversary Countdown Collection has been spotted in the parks and might be worth an ask if she would be able to use her Disney Dollars on these delightful items! This bright and colorful merchandise just makes me want to "Celebrate Happy" and seems to me like the perfect way to commemorate this amazing moment in history!

Well, I hope this information has been helpful, Asia! And remember, if any other planning questions come up for your aunt, like maybe how to utilize the Disneyland app during her visit or where to find the best seasonal treats in the parks, please have her reach out to me! I can talk Disneyland all day.

    Warmest wishes,
    McCayla

Meet the Panelist: McCayla, Washington

Hello from the Pacific Northwest! I'm McCayla, a wife and mom dreaming of adventure in the great wide somewhere, yet also completely content watching Toy Story from the couch. My love of Disneyland began as a little girl on Peter Pan's Flight and only grows with each visit. But even when I'm not physically at the Happiest Place on Earth, I truly feel that same joy when I can help others (YOU!) experience the magic of Disneyland Resort too.
