Aloha, Erin!
Welcome to planDisney, and thank you so much for surfing by with your excellent question. Erin, there's no place I'd rather be than riding the Hawaiian roller coaster ride at
Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, and specifically the two on-property waterslides. In fact, our family just visited Aulani for the third time in August, and I was quite the wayfaring warrior of the waterslides in the Waikolohe pool.
Erin, there are two slides at Aulani. The
Volcanic Vertical is a body slide where single riders go down without a tube. It is dark inside the tunnel and it exits out into the Waikolohe pool. You would not be able to have your child on your lap for this waterslide as it is single-rider only. The
Tubestone Curl is an open-air, twisting and turning tube adventure that launches you into Waikolohe Stream (the lazy river) and it can be ridden solo or in a double tube with a partner. However, a child can't be on your lap for this adventure either. I spoke with a Cast Member at Aulani who said that while there is no age, weight or height minimum for these slides, the child would have to be able to go down on their own and can't be on your lap for either one.
Instead, your mini surfer might enjoy the
Menehune Bridge, which is perfect for little ones and it has two keiki-sized water slides. It's a fun, interactive water play area with places to climb, splash, and discover what magical surprises are hidden among the structure. As long as your little keiki can go down these pint-sized slides independently, without an adult, they will be able to ride these Hawaiian roller coaster rides.
Additionally, I recommend the
Keiki Cove Splash Zone. My kids loved this area when they were toddlers. One tip for you Erin, is that when you look for your poolside loungers, grab the ones right by the Keiki Cove Splash Zone. There tends to be more availability in this area, and it's close to the bathrooms and
Ulu Cafe. Plus, your little one can enjoy the splashing fountains like baby Moana while you are relaxing, as you will be able to keep your eye on them if you are seated here.
I hope this helps you, Erin! If you have any more questions, swim back here to see me and I'll be so happy to help you. Here, at planDisney, we are your vacation planning 'ohana. 'Ohana means family, and that means nobody gets left behind.
