Hello, I have an August use year and I might plan a vacation for the last week of July. If for some reason that vacation gets canceled would we have the chance to reuse the points or would they be lost since the last week of July is the end of our use year

    Hi there Michele,

Welcome to planDisney and thanks for trusting us to assist with your Disney Vacation Club question.

Since you have an August Use Year, your Use Year dates are August 1st until July 31st of the following year. So, when using the current Use Year's Vacation Points, you need to travel by July 31st. Now, if you cancel your vacation early enough in the year, you can still have a chance of using the Points since the deadline for banking your Vacation Points is March 31st. If you'd like to bank these Points, be sure to cancel your trip by March 31, 2025. By doing so, you could use them for travel during the following Use Year.

If you cancel your vacation 30-1 days before a scheduled check-in date, the Points will go into a Holding Account. These Points have the same expiration as your regular Vacation Points only reservations must be made within 60 days of check-in. The Points in a Holding Account are unable to be banked or borrowed. In your case, the Holding Account won't have any effect since if you cancel within 30-1 days before your last week of July trip, these Points would still need to be used by July 31st and you would be within 60 days of any potential check-in.

If possible, I try and book a vacation further out from my Use Year so that if ever I do have to cancel, there are more options for using or banking my Vacation Points.

If you have further questions about banking Points, I recommend chatting with Member Services. They will be able to help clarify things for you so you're comfortable with booking your reservation.

    See ya real soon,
