We are going August 22-29. Since you are from OH I wanted to ask you about the weather since we have similar home weather. What can I expect. 90's and humid? Same as home or 100 and humid worse than home?

Hi, James!   After the rough winter we've had here in Ohio, a little heat and humidity sounds pretty good right now!

When you travel to Disney in August, it is extremely hot and humid.   Expect high 80's - low 90's daily.   Even though we get similar summer temperatures up here in the Buckeye State, it is much more intense in Florida.   One big difference we notice is that when it rains up here, it usually feels cooler afterwards.   In Florida, it just gets more humid if that's possible!   It is not uncommon for a daily afternoon shower in Florida, but it often is a quick burst then it is over.   Bring a rain poncho or umbrella just to be prepared.

As Ohioans, we are pretty tough in the cold weather.  But show me a 90 degree or more day, and I am a weather WIMP!   So when we travel to WDW in the summer (like we are doing in June) we plan on an early start then we are back in the hotel when that hot afternoon sun hits.   We take a break in the room, go for a swim, or take a ride over to Downtown Disney.   If available, I like to plan our lunch reservations around 1:00, right when the crowds are at their highest and the temps are hot.   It gets us out of the sun and we have a leisurely lunch.

Once the afternoon sun passes, we head back to the parks for an evening of fun.   Traveling in the summer is nice because there are usually longer park hours so we can enjoy the parks late into the evening.

I hope you and your family have a great WDW vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
