Aug trip w/3 grandkids-air prices are crazy-thought about train from NY to Orlando (26 hr ride). HOW far from WDW is the train station? options to get to the hotel? I do not want to rent car/ drive. Thoughts?

    Hi Denise!

Getting to Walt Disney World for a great vacation is indeed an important part of the budget for the trip. Flying is of course the easiest and fastest but often the most expensive. When you check into flights see if they offer something less expensive that might include a stop. Or check with smaller airports that might be in your area versus the big city airports.

Taking the train would certainly be a fun and exciting trip but it is much longer. The train station you would need to get to would be either the ORlando or the Kissimmee stops. Both are about a 25-30 minute drive to Walt Disney World. Disney does not offer transportation from the train stations as they do from the Orlando airport so you would be on your own to get a ride. Your best bet is to use the taxi or call for an Uber ride. Most of the time there will be plenty of taxis waiting when you arrive.

Carefully check the expenses you would have if you chose to use the train. You will have many more meals to buy as well as taxi service to and from the train stations. You might find that the airline costs are not that far above what you would have to pay for a very long train trip.
