What is the attire for the formal and semi-formal nights?

    Hi there, Pamela!

Ahoy and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  It sounds like you have a Disney Cruise Line vacation planned!  What fun you will have cruising with Captain Mickey to some incredible destinations!  Have you downloaded the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app to see the countdown to embarkation?!?!  If not, do so now so you can watch the days pass by and find lots of useful information for before and during your voyage.

I love vacations, but packing is something that I notoriously put off (even though I have all intentions of doing it way ahead of time) because I am always worried I will forget something!  So I find myself being a last-minute packer and taking either WAY too much or forgetting important necessities (like bathing suits for my boys…. Mickey’s Mainsail to the rescue for that)!!  So, I am glad that you are thinking ahead about packing and dinner attire.  On voyages seven-nights or longer you will have four cruise casual nights, one formal night, one semi-formal night and one themed night.  On formal night and semi-formal nights, you will find Guests dressed in a wide variety of attire – from their most formal wear to cruise casual.  The same goes for semi-formal night as Guests will range from cruise casual to “Sunday best”.  I always recommend packing what you are comfortable in and being completely satisfied with that choice!  If you plan on dining in one of the adult-exclusive restaurants onboard – and I most definitely do recommend doing so if you can, please note that they do have a dress code that you will want to adhere to.

For reference, my family has never opted for super formal wear, but my boys, including my husband will wear shorts or slacks with a button down or polo.  I will wear a nice sundress, and always have a sweater or cardigan with me since the dining rooms tend to get chilly!  We choose this to wear for both formal and semi-formal nights and have never been turned away from dinner!

Hopefully this helps guide you in dinner attire.  Please note that irons are not in the stateroom, but you can go to the laundry rooms onboard to do any ironing that you may need!  Or, send it off for pressing through the full-service laundry!

Wishing you a magical and memorable adventure at sea, Pamela!

    Happy Sailing!
