Hi, I will be attending the Oogie Boogie Bash in September and am planning to dress as Captain Amelia from Treasure Planet. Part of the costume is a coat that goes to my ankles (slightly higher if I wear heels). Would the rule about capes apply to it also?

Ghostly greetings, Janice. Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. My family and I were at Oogie Boogie Bash just a few nights ago, and I am excited to answer your costume question.

Janice, based on your question, it sounds like you've already read the Dressing for Special Event guidelines. Well done! While the costuming guidelines for Oogie Boogie Bash tend to be more flexible for adults, the final say on what is permitted lies with the Cast Members at the security screening point. I saw quite a few longer dresses during the event, and while your coat doesn't sound like a cape to me, the biggest concern is that it does not drag on the ground, which can cause a tripping hazard. I have seen Cast Members ask Guests to pin up or alter their costumes to ensure they don't drag. So, Janice, while I think your Captain Amelia coat is likely okay, please keep this in mind and have a quick alteration plan in place.

Be sure you have the Disneyland Mobile App downloaded before your visit. You can use it to access the digital event guide,  order food, and find out where your favorite villain can be seen during the event. Tip: Mobile order your food before the event starts, and choose a later pick-up time. That way, you can keep your eyes on the sights of Oogie Boogie Bash - but beware of the Headless Horseman!

I hope this helps answer your question, Janice. Please head back over to planDisney if you have any other questions. We'd be happy to help!

    Happy haunting,
    Melissa
