Hi! We are attending MNSSHP this year as Robin Hood and Maid Marion. Is it ok to have a toy bow, arrows and quiver for Robin Hood costume? It is a children's toy that we are looking at purchasing.

Ghastly greetings, Stacey! It's such a thrill to welcome you to planDisney. Planning your costume for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party sounds like a spooktacular way to get in the spirit before making final arrangements for your arrival. My wife and I dressed as Mr. and Mrs. Banks from Mary Poppins last year, and yes I donned a homemade "Votes for Women" sash and she sported a fake mustache and handcrafted felt poppy on her lapel. Let's talk about the rules (or should I say "ghouls?") and regulations for costumes and props for guests attending this fiendish fête.

The official costume guidelines state that "costumes may not contain any props or accessories that resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon." Additionally, there is a stipulation about pointed objects and objects that may accidentally strike guests. Since the toy bow will resemble a bow and arrow, my reading of this policy leads me to believe that it will not be allowed.

I think your costume will be so amazing that you won't even need the bow and arrow in order for Cast Members and your fellow guests to recognize who you are portraying. Another accessory that could help you tell the story would be something like a burlap bag with a dollar sign on it to show that you've simply borrowed a bit from those who can afford it.

Are you excited to take in all the spellbinding snacks and entertainment at the party, Stacey? I highly recommend setting aside some time to listen to the eerie vocals of the Cadaver Dans and to watch Disney's Not-So-Spooky Spectacular which is hosted by my favorite character: Jack Skellington! Please visit us again here at planDisney for more assistance. We're simply dying to help our fellow guests!

    Hurry back, hurry back!
