We will be attending the MNSSHP in Oct and planning to arrive at the park at 4pm. Can we come dressed in our costumes for the party or do we need to plan to change closer to party time?

Boo to you! Lisa, welcome back to planDisney.

I see some spooky fun in your future. Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a family favorite because we get to meet so many Disney friends who only show up for this eerily enchanted experience.

Yes, you may come dressed in your costume as long as it follows the Costume Guidelines, and entering at 4:00 PM gives you an additional three hours to enjoy the fun. If you prefer to change at the theme park then you can in the restroom and I recommend you get a rental locker to store your costume until you are ready to change. Day Guests will start leaving at 6:00 PM when Magic Kingdom Park officially closes for the day.

Guest costumes have been so creative over the years. The areas to watch out for are long costumes that drag on the ground, masks, and dressing too closely to a Disney character where another Guest may think you are the character. Some of these costumes are legendary. My favorite was the three friends that dressed up like Phineas, Ezra, and Gus (the hitchhiking ghosts) from the Haunted Mansion. They glowed!!!

Mickey's Boo-To-You Halloween Parade is my favorite part of the evening. I find the best place to stand is just in front of the main entrance to The Hall of Presidents. There is a small half-wall with a light post near the end. If you can get this spot you will not be blinded by lights or swarmed by other guests because it is a shallow viewing area. It gives you a great view of the parade and the Headless Horseman as it slows down on the turn towards Cinderella Castle.

Lisa, I hope this information helps you have a spelltastic adventure. Please feel free to write me back directly for other Disney vacation planning tips.

    Enjoy making many Magical Memories.
