Hi Allison!
October 31 is a very big night at the
Fort Wilderness Campground Resort at Walt Disney World. This resort has become well known for it's trick or treating through all the campsite loops. We have been a guest here over Halloween for many years and last year I believe we gave out approximately 1200 treats!
This resort does a hard close on Halloween and the only guests who are allowed to enter are those who are staying there and those who might have dining reservations. Since you will be heading to
Mickey's Backyard Barbecue you can enter using your own car if that is easiest and will be directed to the overflow parking area. You will then need to use the internal bus to get down to the Pioneer Hall area which is where the dinner is held. If you are arriving from the Magic Kingdom or the Contemporary and Wilderness Resort then you will be taking a boat and that docks close to your dining event.
The Mickey's Barbecue will be held at 5:30 on Halloween night. Although trick or treating is for the resort guests I am sure you could enjoy a couple of the loops with your two year old to enjoy it as well. From Mickey's Backyard Barbecue area you can find a couple of loops within walking distance. Some of the best loops for trick or treating include 600, 700, and 800. You will be amazed at some of the wonderful Halloween decorations that guests will have on display. My husband and I just finished ours today and we have carried on with our tradition of an NFL theme! At any time you can always hop on the internal bus from any bus stop and make your way to your car or the main bus area at the front of the resort.
I can't wait to be at our site that night handing out treats to all the younger guests.
