Hi! I am attending gradnite next week and I was wondering with the special event, do you have to be inside California adventure at 9? Say I wanted to stay in Disneyland till 11 then go do the party. Is that allowed or do I need to be in California by 9?

    Hi Xavier,

Welcome to planDisney—and congratulations on Grad Nite! As a high school teacher, I love celebrating my students' achievements, and Grad Nite is such a magical way to cap off this major milestone! I was lucky enough to chaperone my students this year, so you've stopped by the perfect place for some pixie-dusted advice.

When I attended Grad Nite, I asked a Cast Member this exact question, and they shared that students should be inside California Adventure by 10:00 PM. I highly recommend confirming the timing with a Cast Member when you check in, since details can change.

The park closes to the general public at 9:00 PM, and after that, Cast Members will begin checking for Grad Nite wristbands. Don't lose that wristband—it’s your golden ticket to all the fun! Without it, you won’t be able to enter or stay in the park to enjoy the attractions. Also, students won't be allowed to leave the park until the event officially ends, so be ready for an exciting (and late!) night.

Now for the fun part! 🎉 Be sure to look for special character meet-and-greets featuring some familiar faces decked out in their cap and gown. I was lucky enough to snap pics with Stitch and Mater—it’s the perfect graduation photo-op! 📸 There’s also Disney graduation merchandise available throughout the park, so don’t miss the chance to grab something to commemorate this once-in-a-lifetime celebration.

Xavier, I hope this info helps you get the most out of this incredible night! If you have any more questions or want extra tips for future trips, feel free to reach out to me or any of my fellow planDisney panelists. We’re always here to add a little extra sparkle to your planning.

Here’s to the graduates—dream big, celebrate loud, and make some magical memories!

    Enjoy Grad Nite!
