HI we are attending DisneyWorld and we have the dining plan. Can anyone give me some advice on quick service restaurants that have healthier options for kids. I believe they have to order off the kids menu and most of what I have seen are chicken nuggets

    Garry:

I saw Disney trend toward healthy kid offerings for their kid's meals before McDonald's and Wendy's several years ago when our family went on our first trip that offered free dining.

You'll find most counter-service restaurants offering grapes and carrots, even applesauce, milk, and juice alongside their entrees.  At Pizzafari in Animal Kingdom, for example, a child can order pizza or macaroni & cheese and you'll find a drumstick at Flame Tree Barbecue. At both Columbia Harbor House, Cosmic Ray's, and Peco's Bill's in the Magic Kingdom, you'll find a Mixed Greens Salad with Chicken on the kids' menu--perfect for adults who want a smaller portion meal.

Epcot has the best alternatives to burgers and nuggets on the menu, especially Sunshine Seasons. This place gets a thumbs up from my four children who usually go for the baked chicken and mashed potatoes (although they've let us choose another side) in the grill line or a huge sub sandwich.  Yakitori House in Japan serves a delicious chicken teriyaki and Tangierine Cafe in Morocco serves up a fruit salad, a pasta & meatballs dish along with couscous (my personal favorite) for children.

We only have one child who loves chicken nuggets, so we're always looking for the alternatives. Hands down, Epcot will provide your best selections and, in my opinion, Disney's Hollywood Studios will have the fewest, but you should be able to find alternatives to the usual kids fare in every park.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
