Hi, I am attending a conference at WDW and at 44 y/o this is my first time! I left one full day open with no conference agenda. Any recs for a solo adult to enjoy one of the parks? I am staying at Yacht Club. I will see Epcot during the conference. Thx!

Hi there, Nicole. Welcome to planDisney!

I'm so excited about your first-ever visit to the resort! Funny story but I actually fell in love with the resort when I accompanied my husband on a visit when he had a conference. I brought a friend because I didn't think I would be comfortable enjoying the parks on my own while he was at the conference. We had an amazing time, but I was completely wrong about the whole solo thing. In fact, I just returned from my first-ever solo trip and it was wonderful. The Cast Members make you feel completely at home, you can strike up conversations with anyone you'd like or keep to yourself, and the best part is you get to do exactly what you want to do and not worry about anyone else!

If you have never been to the resort before and you're already going to EPCOT during your trip, I would highly recommend you buy a theme park ticket and make a Theme Park Reservation (required for all Guests until January 9, 2024) to Magic Kingdom Park. This is the original park and if you ask me, you've never visited the resort if you haven't visited the Magic Kingdom!

Get ready to feel like a kid again without any shame. Embrace it. You want dessert for breakfast? Stop by Sleepy Hollow for the Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich, which will fill you up and satisfy that sweet tooth. It has fruit, so it's healthy, right? Want to experience all the high-speed thrills? Conquer the mountains by enjoying Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, and what I consider an honorary mountain, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Also, make sure you try your hand at getting a Virtual Queue or purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane to experience the resort's latest thrill, TRON Lightcycle / Run presented by Enterprise.

To ensure you're embracing that inner child, you simply have to try the classic dark rides of Fantasyland. Nothing screams Disney like "it's a small world," Peter Pan's Flight, and Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid. As many times as I've been to the resort, I'd never ridden the Prince Charming Regal Carrousel or Dumbo. Well, I checked those off my list last week and I have to say that I smiled ear to ear during those entire rides...and I'm right behind you in age!

Since you are visiting during a very hot time of year, I'd highly recommend making an advanced dining reservation for the middle of the day so you can enjoy a nice, air-conditioned meal during the hottest time. And I'd recommend Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen for some unique eats. Just make sure to check out the menu beforehand as it doesn't offer the typical theme park fare.

I'd also recommend you seriously consider purchasing the Disney Genie+ Service for your day. This service allows you to skip the main standby queues for many of the rides in the park for a shorter wait in the Lightning Lanes. You'll be able to accomplish more during your visit and won't have to stand in the heat as long if the ride has an outdoor queue.

Nicole, I hope you have a productive and informative conference and an amazing time at the theme parks. Please feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.

What Disney seemed to know was that while there is very little grown-up in every child, there is a lot of child in every grown-up,
