I am attending a conference the last week of August at the Swan/Dolphin and plan to bring my daughter, 13. We've never been and she will be alone while I'm in meetings. Are there supervised, planned activities for her age group available?

Hi, Linda! WDW is a great place for business, and my husband and I have been to conferences many times -- with and without our children. Unless your conference makes concessions for children during the day, you will need to make sure your daughter has plans while you are attending meetings.

If you are not comfortable allowing your teen daughter to stay in your hotel room while you're in meetings, you may want to call for a childcare specialist at Kid's Nite Out at 407/828-0920. For an extra cost, you can have someone accompany your daughter to parks or resort areas to ensure that she is safe and having fun while you're away. There is a Children's Activity Center called Camp Dolphin at your resort, but your daughter is just a bit too old (ages 4-12). Also, they are only open in the evenings from about 5:30 p.m. until midnight -- which would be great for a business dinner, but not necessarily for meetings.

For our family, we usually bring a sitter with us if we both have to attend meetings and our teenagers aren't available to stay with our little ones. It costs a little more to have someone travel with us, but it's worth our peace of mind having someone readily available whom we know. I hope this helps you make plans that are suitable for your situation. Have a wonderful day and a magical trip!
