Hi Amy,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Great name, friend! It's smart to consider the benefits of staying at a
Walt Disney World Resort Hotel before booking your stay. There are so many benefits that come with a stay at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel.
Extra Magic Hours are either an extra hour before a theme park opens or two extra hours after a theme park closes in the evening and these hours are limited to guests of Walt Disney World Resort Hotels. Extra Magic Hours are scheduled in advance and can be found on the official
Park Hours.
I think whether you stay for Saturday or Sunday night will depend on when the Extra Magic Hours you want to attend are happening. If the Extra Magic Hours are in the morning, a Saturday evening stay will probably be your best bet. If the Extra Magic Hours are in the evening, I think a Sunday evening stay will be the best choice. It sounds much more pleasant to be able to head to your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel after a late night in the park!
I checked the official Park Hours and it looks like for the next few months the Sunday Extra Magic Hours are evening hours at
Disney's Hollywood Studios. You might consider staying at one of the resorts served by the new
Disney Skyliner.
Disney's Art of Animation Resort,
Disney's Pop Century Resort,
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, and
Disney's Riviera Resort all have access to the Disney Skyliner.
Disney's Yacht Club Resort,
Disney's Beach Club Resort,
Disney's BoardWalk Inn, and
Disney's BoardWalk Villas all have easy access by
boat, walking, or Disney Skyliner at EPCOT's International Gateway.
Amy, thank you for visiting us with your question. I hope you will let us know if we can help you with any additional planning questions.
Wishing you happy planning and a magical vacation,
Amy H.
