Hey there, Louise, and welcome back to planDisney! As a lover of
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and Disney food, I am sorry to hear that you weren’t able to secure a
Yak & Yeti Restaurant reservation for your upcoming visit. But all is not lost, I have a tried and true recommendation to hopefully help you snag a reservation. And if not, there are a few other dining options around that I think may satisfy your Disney food cravings.
Louise, in my experience, dining reservations for the most popular restaurants fill up rather quickly. However, you can always check back periodically to see if new availability opens up before the day of your visit. If you like playing things by ear, you can always wait to see if some same-day availability opens up. I recommend reviewing the dining availability every few days up until your trip. And once on-site, I recommend giving the reservation availability one last look the morning before you head into Animal Kingdom. You never know, a reservation may open up just in time for you to secure it! After all, it is Disney World!
If you are still unable to get a reservation for Yak & Yeti, some great dining options in the Theme Park require no reservation at all. The first one that comes to mind is the
Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes. This is the quick service dining option that is located right outside the doors of the Yak & Yeti restaurant. When you really have a craving for some fried rice or an egg roll and can’t get into the restaurant, this quick-service option is the next best thing!
Nomad Lounge is the next option that comes to mind. This Lounge offers great ambiance, walk-up availability, and Tiffin’s famous bread service! While the food here is primarily small plates, there are still options for the younger travelers in your party. And adult libations are available for the more seasoned travelers in your party!
Another Animal Kingdom quick service option is
Satu’li Canteen, located in
Pandora - The World of Avatar. With plenty of covered outdoor seating, Satu’li Canteen is a great option when in need of delicious food and some cover from the Central Florida sun. I recommend that you mobile-order your meal - try the Combination Bowl - and grab a seat out on the patio to rest and recharge.
If you prefer a sit-down meal for your family,
Tiffins and
Tusker House are great options! Keep in mind that both restaurants require reservations and are extremely popular. So you may run into the same availability challenges you are currently experiencing with Yak & Yeti.
I hope this helps, Louise. If you have more questions as you plan,
come back by and ask me!
Until Next Time,
PG
