Hi Emma! Welcome to planDisney, and happy early Mother’s Day.
Ooooo-eeeee! You are going to have a rootin’ tootin’ good time at
Whispering Canyon Café! I love that you have a fun memory from a visit many years ago – we made some really great memories with my kiddos and their grandparents a few years ago, and my son still loves to watch the video of himself participating in the pony races while Grandma and Grandpa cheered him on. Yee-haw!
Whether it’s bringing every bottle of ketchup in the restaurant to your table or singing “I’m a Little Teapot,” there are lots of old-fashioned shenanigans to be had at Whispering Canyon Café. Some things, like the ketchup gag, don’t work with the
enhanced health and safety protocols in Walt Disney World’s restaurants, while other traditions are alive and well. I wasn’t able to confirm whether the singing is still happening right now, but I highly recommend asking your server – you never know what will happen when you ask your server for something at this restaurant! (My friend and fellow Panelist Lori once had the world’s biggest cup of Diet Coke brought to her and I have a hilarious photo that I share on social media for her birthday every year.)
If you’re asking because you prefer not to participate in the festivities, don’t worry one bit, partner. I have two children – one is a participator who jumped right on his broom pony and galloped with glee around the restaurant, while the other preferred to eat her skillet in peace. They have a system where you can place a coaster red-side-up to indicate that you prefer a quieter dining experience. You’ll still get to see and hear all the fun, but you won’t be bothered if you prefer to be a spectator. I have always found the servers to do a great job balancing each Guest’s preferences.
Emma, I hope you enjoy your special meal at this one-of-a-kind restaurant. You seriously cannot go wrong with any of the menu options – I’m drooling just thinking about it. Be sure to save room for dessert because that’s my favorite part of a meal at Whispering Canyon Café. As, you count down the days, keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog as they often feature great dining, sweets, and gift ideas for celebrating Mother's Day at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Cheers to a wonderful Mother’s Day celebration, with a song in your heart and a delicious meal in your tummy.
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
