I am an associate member and would like to book a hotel room in Miami, would this be possible? Would I use the Interval International?

    Welcome Home, Sean!

And a great big beautiful welcome to planDisney.  I am very happy to help one of my fellow Disney Vacation Club Members today. As a Member for the last 22 years, Disney Vacation Club has given our family flexible, affordable family vacations to Disney and beyond, year after year. It is one of the best decisions our family has made.

Sean, I double-checked with Disney Vacation Club about your question. First, I would recommend contacting them about your Associate Membership, because whether or not you can make a reservation through Interval International will very much depend on the Member's account.

But, generally speaking, an Associate is a person named by the Purchaser or Purchasers who is only authorized to make reservations using the Disney Vacation Club Member's Home Resort Vacation Points. Associates do not receive Membership Cards and are not entitled to the benefits and privileges that are available to a Disney Vacation Club Member.

Now, for my Membership, which was purchased directly from Disney Vacation Club, an Associate Member would be eligible to both place a hotel reservation within Interval International and travel.  But once you confirm with Member Services that in your case, you can - as an Associate Member - use your Membership's Disney Vacation Club Points to book through Interval International, that would be the way you can book a Resort in Miami.

Then, you can follow these steps:
    • First, go to the Disney Vacation Club website. Scroll to the "Destinations" tab on the menu bar, and under "The World Collection," you will see "Vacation Exchanges" or "Hotel Exchanges." You can click on either to explore exchange options, but if you specifically want to use your Vacation Points at a Worldwide hotel, then select "Hotel Exchanges."
    • Click the button that says "Book With Interval Online," then log in using your DVC log-in information, and you can begin to explore the opportunities for where you can use your Vacation Points.
    • To find a hotel in Miami: From the Interval International, click on the far right tab that says "Resort Directory."
    • Then, go to "Search By Region" and select "USA-Florida."
    • From here, you will want to select "Florida, Miami" or "Florida, Miami Beach" and see the available hotel options.
When you are ready to book, you can call Member Services, who will be able to assist you with transferring your Disney Vacation Club Points into Reservation Points and book the stay. Please note that this is a final transaction and can't be undone, which is why I always recommend using Member Services to assist with this step.

I hope this helps you, Sean! If you have any further Disney Vacation Club questions, soar back here to see me and I'll be so happy to help you.

    Magically Yours,
    Keri
