When do they assign rooms. How far in advance of your reservation?

    Hi Ed!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

If you have a preferred room location, you may wish to return there again, or try somewhere else with a new view or somewhere with less walk from the bus stops or lobby (particularly nice after a long day at the parks!). With regard to specific requests, this is what I have done in the past, with much success:  When making the initial reservation (by phone) I add my room request.  I know the room numbers of my preferred resort and I request that we are booked into that same room or one nearby.  If you don't know the actual room numbers, then a location request would work too - ie. high floor, close to the lobby, close to elevators, and so on.    Then, approaching my arrival date - between 5-7 days - I will phone again, and reiterate my request.   I believe they are allocated around 3-5 days in advance.

Also, it's worth knowing that if you are staying at one of the Magic Kingdom Resort hotels located around Seven Seas Lagoon or Bay Lake and there's a chance you will have a theme park view,  requesting a high floor will give you more chance of seeing Cinderella Castle, or at least a good view of the nightly fireworks.

At check-in, if you are assigned a room location that you are not so happy with, you can always ask if there is an alternative available.   If the hotel is not fully booked at that time, they may be able to find you another room.

Please come back and visit us if you have any further questions.  We will be happy to help you plan your magical vacation to Walt Disney World.
