ASM 8/4/12. Breakfast is the only meal that we do not use our DDP for and would like to save some money, but have a great experience at the same time. Last visit we ate at ASM every day, but would like some suggestions for other places that are inexpensive

    Hello, Heather!

Our personal favorite breakfast experience is at Wolfgang Puck Express, at the Marketplace at Downtown Disney. (Not to be confused with Wolfgang Puck Cafe, which is on the West Side, and is a Table-Service restaurant.)

To get an idea of items served there, take a look at the unofficial site, allears.net. Hover over "Walt Disney World," click "Dining" and you'll find the (unofficial) menu there. Family favorites include Smoked Bacon Pizza (scrambled eggs, tomatoes, mozzarella, cheddar cheese and ranch dressing) and Crispy Cornflake French Toast, served with seasonal fruit (not compote...it's the real deal.) Portions are enormous, the food is made fresh per order and is hand-delivered to your table when it's ready. If spending money out of pocket, or using a Quick-Service entitlement, it's a great value! A friend of mine loves the breakfast offerings at Sunshine Seasons at The Land at Epcot. Again, check allears.net for items and pricing.

I've started to pick up breakfast pastries for the next morning at parks the day before, too. I bring quart and gallon-sized zipper bags to keep them fresh (and to keep the chocolate from the cherry, etc.) and pick up muffins, apple turnovers, chocolate croissants, etc., using our snack credits. (Have you ever noticed at the end of a trip that you still have a dozen or more snack credits left? Why not put them to use in making a light meal, instead of just spending them on a beverage, which you could have brought with you into the park? ;-)  )

Lastly, did you know that you can ship a box of favorite breakfast items to your own attention at your resort? If someone gets up early and needs to eat, you're covered.

Hope this information helps! Send more questions as you think of them, too. Have a great trip!
