Hi Sheryl!
Welcome to planDisney! Thank you for bringing your question about language services at the Walt Disney World theme parks to us! As someone who has studied American Sign Language, I'm very happy to help! The Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts provides guests the opportunity to enjoy shows and attractions in five languages, and guide maps are available in a litany of languages, enhancing the guest experience at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
For guests with
hearing disabilities, Walt Disney World offers several options to enable them to enjoy the Resort. Guest Resort Rooms can be equipped with a room communication kit, which includes a bed shaker notification, TTY, strobe alarms, and more. Guests in the parks can opt for Disney's Handheld Devices, which feature hand-held closed captioning for several of the
attractions and
entertainment experiences park-wide. These are available at guest services in all four parks and have a fully refundable cost per day associated. Sign Language Interpreters are available for particular live shows on a scheduled basis. According to Guest Services, a schedule for these services can be obtained prior to arrival by emailing WDPRsignlanguageservices@disney.com, or you can obtain a same-day schedule at Guest Relations within the parks.
Handheld Device Tip: These are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. These devices also are equipped with video captioning for several experiences within the parks. Look for the CC symbol prior to entering the attraction or entertainment venue.
Should you have any more questions, feel free to ask us! Hope this helps you plan your magical vacation!
