Asking a different way since I did not get an answer before...with large parties (9) how is the 18% gratuity charged for parties using the DP? Tips are not included on DP, so how is this handled?

    Hi Deborah!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Thank you for bringing this question to us again. If I understand your question correctly, you want to know how the gratuity will actually be charged.

When we have used a Disney dining plan traveling with a larger party, we made dining reservations as a party of seven. Our dining party included a family of four and a family of three with separate resort reservations. When dining, each family received a separate bill. The bill included the total cost of the meal plus the cost of the gratuity. Our dining plan credits were used to cover the cost of the meal. We could either pay the gratuity in the restaurant or charge it to our resort hotel room account. I typically charge everything to our resort hotel room account and pay the entire bill when we checkout of the resort.

When dining, the cast member who serves you will scan your MagicBand to pull up your account and retrieve your dining plan credits. To make charges with your MagicBand, you will need to link a credit card to your My Disney Experience Account and create a Pin code. I typically create our Pin code using My Disney Experience prior to our arrival and we use the same Pin code for each visit. To create your Pin code, login to your My Disney Experience Account, go to "My Profile" and then click on "Payment Method."

Using a Disney dining plan is easy but I always remind guests that your dining plan credits are calculated per night of stay. I chart out our meals prior to arrival so that I can be sure we have enough dining credits for the meals we plan to do.

Deborah, I hope this answers you question!
