Where should we ask to stay in Alligator Bayou or the Mansion side of Port Orleans riverside? We would like to be fairly central, but not too noisy, and near a pool?

Maura, we stayed in Lodge 18 at Port Orleans Riverside (Alligator Bayou section) last September and absolutely loved the location.  It was a very short and pleasant walk to the food court area.  There was also a quiet pool located close by, but not so close that it was noisy.  The walk to Ol' Man Island (the main themed pool) was somewhat longer, but still not bad.

Even if you choose to stay in the Magnolia Bend section, there are some areas that will put you close to the food court and a pool, particularly the Oak Manor building.

Port Orleans Riverside is my favorite moderate resort; great choice!  Because the grounds are so gorgeous walking to and from the food court or pools is always enjoyable.  You might even consider strolling alongside the Sassagoula River to the French Quarter and pick up some yummy beignets (a deep-fried pastry covered with powdered sugar).  Enjoy your trip!
