Hello and welcome to planDisney, Kezia!
Thank you for visiting us with excellent questions! It is a pleasure to assist you as you plan a Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
As a fellow international visitor, I also worry about how the pandemic may impact my future reservations, that is why I highly recommend that international visitors book their Disney vacation with their trusted travel professional in their home country. Last year the airline company canceled my flights and my travel agent immediately helped me rebook my Disney Resort hotel reservation and modify tickets. Doing everything on my own would have been overwhelming so I was glad to rely on a professional.
While booking your Disney visit you can make a room-only reservation at a
Disney Resorts Collection hotel and purchase tickets separately, or book a
Disney vacation package that includes a stay at a Disney Resort hotel plus theme park tickets. Booking a Disney vacation package (hotel plus tickets) seems to be a good option if you are worried about future cancellations because if you cancel your package at least 30 days or more before your arrival, amounts paid are usually refunded (minus cancellation fees by third parties if applicable).
If you make a room-only reservation, you can cancel it at least 5 days before your check-in date to receive a refund for your deposit, but if you buy tickets separately they are nonrefundable. That is why contacting a travel agent is
especially important if you are visiting from abroad. They will be able to go over purchase terms and conditions for travelers from your country, offer appropriate travel insurance, go over cancellations policies and personally assist you in the event you need to cancel your vacation.
I hope this information is helpful, Kezia! Come back to visit us if you have additional questions, we are delighted to help!
Best magical wishes,
Thiana
