Hiya, Friend, and welcome to planDisney!
My family navigates the parks with sensory needs as well! Because of Disney’s dedication to ensuring all Guests feel seen and supported, we always have the most magical time. I am happy to share the services, tips, and tools that help us make the most of our visits to the Disneyland Resort. By the time we’re done here, you’ll want to sing
Hakuna Matata! Let’s get started.
While there are no specific discounts for Guests with disabilities, Disneyland does offer the
Disability Access Service (DAS). DAS is designed to support Guests who cannot wait in standard lines for an extended time. While the service does not provide immediate access to rides, it lets you
request a return time comparable to the standard line wait. For example, if
Radiator Springs Racers has a 90-minute wait, the attraction return time selections will be at least 90 minutes from the time you submit the request.
To
register for DAS, you must speak with a Cast Member to determine eligibility via live video chat or on-site at an Accessibility Services Kiosk. Keep in mind that the Guest who will need the service must be present for the conversation. I have found live video chat to be the easiest way to register, since you can speak to someone as early as 60 days before your park visit. This way, you can enter the park ready to get your adventure started!
My top recommendation for ensuring the most enjoyable experience is to tailor your plans around your family’s sensory needs. The
Sensory Experience Details guide provides an at-a-glance breakdown of all sensory elements within Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, and even Specialty Experiences, like
guided park tours. I love how it details the elements of surprise within attractions and experiences, so you can
be prepared!Bonus Tip: Avoid waiting in lines for character meet and greets by opting for
Character Dining! During these experiences, the characters roam around and come directly to Guests to interact. This will allow your sons to experience that magical moment in a way that feels most comfortable for them. The best part is that you do not feel rushed, and you enjoy a meal while you’re at it!
Friend, I truly hope that this information is helpful and that you all have the most wonderful time when you visit the Disneyland Resort! If you have any additional questions, please feel free to stop by and see us again here at planDisney.
Sending you faith, trust, and pixie dust,
Karmeen
