How to ask for fast passes in a group?

Hey Howdy Hey Clara and welcome back to planDisney!

Thank you for your question on Lightning Lane access, the rethemed name for Fastpass. Depending on when you are going to visit the Walt Disney World Resort, this will require 1 of 2 options for Lightning Lane selection. We have a lot to review so let's get to it!

As an overview, when making Lightning Lane selections for everyone in your party, everyone needs to purchase access. Depending on when you are going to visit Walt Disney World, this access will go by different names as the process is changing later this month which we will get to in a moment. Once everyone has access, everyone should be sharing plans on their My Disney Experience app. As long as this is the case, one person can be the designated one to make selections for everyone in the party. Once on the app, you will be prompted to select which Guests you are making the selection for. You will have the option to select the Guests and then which attraction at which time slot to choose. You can make the selection for the whole party or only certain members for one attraction and other members of another just in case you find some members not as thrill-seeking as others! This is super easy to do but let's now take a step back on the purchase of access.

The current process that is in place from now until July 24 will require everyone in your party to purchase Genie+. You can only do so on the day of your visit starting at midnight. Once everyone purchases Genie+, you will all then have access to Lightning Lanes. You can book your first Lightning Lane experience starting at 7:00 AM and your next either 2 hours after the park opens to the general public or once you redeem your first selection. This process continues throughout the day as far as the time when you can select your next option.

Starting on July 24, you will have the option to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Lightning Lane Multi Pass will be available for purchase 7 days from your date of arrival for Guests staying onsite with Disney Resort Collection or qualifying resorts. All other Guests will have access to purchase 3 days before the date of arrival. You can purchase Multi Pass for select days of your trip. Once you do, you can make 3 Lightning Lane selections for each date purchased. On the day of, once you access your Lightning Lanes, you will then be given a rolling one to use throughout the rest of your day.

Individual Lightning Lanes is the current product that is available for purchase for only select attractions. These are typically the more popular ones such as Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT. You can purchase them starting at 7:00 AM for resort Guests or when the park opens for all other Guests. Starting on July 24th, this will be renamed to Lightnign Lane Single Pass with accessibility as Lightnign Lane Multi Pass stated above.

While changes are coming, you will still have easy access to booking Lightning Lanes for the whole party easily through the app. The lingo is the big thing that is changing and can be confusing. If you have any further questions please let us know so we can help navigate you through this change.

    Have a Magical day,
