Hi Ashley! I have a unique opportunity coming up soon. I will be traveling to Walt Disney World for a few days without my kids. Do you have any suggestions for a mom traveling solo to Walt Disney World for the first time?

    Hey Jill!

I am so excited for your solo trip to Walt Disney World!  I love visiting the House of Mouse with my family, but there's something so amazing about visiting as a party of one.  It's a whole other kind of magic!

One thing I love to do on my solo trips is to enjoy some really great dining like The Tune-In Lounge at 50's Prime Time Cafe in Disney's Hollywood Studios.  The Lounge is home to a fabulously kitschy bar, awesome bartenders and the delicious 50's Prime Time menu.  After dinner, I love strolling over to The Writer's Stop at the Streets of America for a carrot cake cookie. It's perfect to eat while walking around the park, taking in all of the little details I miss on other trips.

Some of my other favorite places to dine solo are the California Grill Lounge, Flying Fish Cafe and Citrico's.  Each restaurant offers a full menu at their bar area and Advanced Dining Reservations are not required.

Some other quick ideas: Try a behind-the-scenes tour.  Sit on a bench and people watch for a while.   Or book yourself a day at one of Walt Disney World's spas for a truly relaxing experience.  It's also fun to go shopping without having to worry about little hands trying to pull down everything.  It's truly a trip of luxuries when you're solo!

Of course, you'll be thinking of your kids at home.  One thing I love to do is to take a small stuffed animal with me  and take photos on my camera phone of the animal at different places around the parks. I text the photos to my daughter and she has a blast trying to figure out where in the "World" I am at the time.

I hope I've given you some ideas for your solo trip to Walt Disney World!  Please come back and see me again real soon.  Have a magical day!
