Hi, Victoria, and welcome back to planDisney! Your trip is just a few weeks away, and I bet you can practically smell the popcorn wafting through the air. You've picked a great resort with
Disney's Art of Animation Resort. You're probably already aware that it's on the
Disney Skyliner route, which gives you easy access to
EPCOT and
Disney's Hollywood Studios as well as several other hotels within the
Disney Resorts Collection. You are in for an incredible vacation! But first, let's talk about your transportation options to Cocoa Beach.
Cocoa Beach is about an hour's drive from the Walt Disney World Resort. It's located along what's known as Florida's Space Coast where rocket launches into space happen on the regular. It's also very close to Port Canaveral where cruise ships can often be seen coming and going. In fact,
Disney Cruise Line has several ships that regularly sail from there. This makes it a popular destination to visit beaches, watch for rocket launches and see cruise ships embarking on their journeys.
If you're visiting Cocoa Beach as a day trip or tacking it onto your Walt Disney World vacation, the best ways to get there are either by renting a car or using ride share. It's a very easy drive from Disney, so my preferred option is to rent a car. If you're trying to get to your Disney Cruise, I prefer to book
Disney Cruise Line transportation from my Disney hotel straight to the port, although many families like to spend a night or two at Cocoa Beach before their cruise. In that case, I'd rent a car.
