Hello, Does the Art of Animation Resort still offer drawing classes?

Hello, Veronica, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Disney's Art of Animation Resort is one of my favorite Walt Disney World Resort hotels. In addition to the lobby’s animation displays including background art, character sketches, motion studies and animation cels, they do still offer a drawing class each afternoon where anyone can join a professional Disney artist for character-drawing tutorials. I definitely do not consider myself a "master artist" by any means, but the animators break down the process in easy-to-follow steps that help anyone create a masterpiece! These classes are currently free and open to the public (whether or not you're an official Art of Animation Resort guest), but you’ll need to check with a front desk Cast Member to find out the times they're offered.

There is also a brand new attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park that will give your inner animator a chance to shine, too. The Animation Experience at Conservation Station is a 25-minute class that offers step-by-step instruction on how to draw some of your favorite Disney Characters. In celebration of The Lion King’s 25th anniversary, classes currently focus on Simba, Zasu, Pumbaa and Timon, but “furried and feathered friends” from other Disney films may be featured, too! While times are always subject to change, the class is currently offered nine times a day. Specific times can be found under the “Attractions” heading on your My Disney Experience mobile app and are also posted in the Times Guide available at the front of the Theme Park. You can also reserve a spot by making this experience one of your FastPass+ selections for the day.

To tide you over until your next Walt Disney World Resort vacation, check out the Learn to Draw series posted on the Disney Parks Blog. There are currently 16 different tutorials available!

Here's wishing you an animated good time,
