Welcome to planDisney, Sherri!
My family loved our stay at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. My children loved feeling as though we had been transported into their favorite Disney movies – walking through the resort, you truly feel as though you’re inside the movies featured in the theming throughout.
Because of this immersive theming, you won’t find Standard Rooms that connect with Family Suites at
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. The Standard Rooms are all in The Little Mermaid section of the resort; the Cars, The Lion King, and Finding Nemo buildings are made up of Family Suites only. The
Family Suites are really terrific; their thoughtful layout means you can put little ones (or yourself!) down for a nap behind closed doors, the table bed is a great space-saver and gives you a nice eating space, and the two bathrooms are so helpful for larger parties in the mornings and at pool time. Having said that, my family of four loved our Standard Room, and my Ursula-loving son adored being able to say hello to his favorite Sea Witch each morning.
Sherri, I know logistics can be a challenge to think through when planning for a
larger family or multi-family visit. If you are a group with multiple adults (for example, your family in the Family Suite plus grandparents in a Standard Room), request a Family Suite in The Lion King section, and then you’ll be right next to The Little Mermaid section where the Standard Room will be located. If you call (407) 939-1936 and explain you’re traveling with another party, the room assigners will do their best to assign rooms in closer proximity, though this can’t be guaranteed. It’s a short walk between these two sections, and a lovely one with the beautiful landscaping and fun landmarks from the movies.
If you’re a larger family or really want to ensure you have shared space, I recommend looking into
The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort or
Deluxe Villa accommodations. While those rooms are generally more expensive, you may save money with kitchen access. We often travel with grandparents and cousins, and we have found the 2-Bedroom Villas work really well, and we frequently cook meals in our villas. It’s great to cook, eat, and hang out together in these spaces – one of my favorite things in the world is to sit on a balcony with my parents, drinking coffee and just chatting while we take in the Florida morning. Recently, we stayed in two side-by-side 2-Bedroom Villas at
Disney’s Old Key West Resort with a party of fourteen, and it was amazing!
