arriving at WDW on 06/27/09. have not made ADR as this has never been a priority in the past. Just ate when the mood hit us. However, on this trip might like to try a ADR. do we have time? and what would you suggest. Kids are boys, 17,12,6. Thanks.

    Allen:

Your trip will be a lot less stressful when you make reservations, and you can call (907) 939-3463 up until the day!

There are so many places I could suggest for your guys: Planet Hollywood or T-Rex at Downtown Disney, Ohana at the Polynesian or Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge.....but I feel I need to balance my recommendations with the possibility that you will actually get the reservation...if you can land any of these, go, but if you don't, there are other solid choices.

In fact, there are several restaurants that, according to a new survey done by www.touringplans.com, are easier to book, and from it, I'd consider the following:

    • Tokyo Dining: For sushi fans.  Its view of Epcot and its lake are spectacular.
    • Mama Melrose's: This Italian eatery at Hollywood Studios is often overlooked, which could mean a last-minute reservation for you!  I don't know many kids that don't like pizza (good pizza) or spaghetti.
    • The Plaza Restaurant: Although it's not a good value if you're on the dining plan, if you're paying out-of-pocket, it's a good respite from hotdogs and burgers.  I recommend the Reuben, the Vegetarian Sandwich, and the Chicken Strawberry Salad, not to mention the homemade chips.  Top off your lunch with one of their desserts (my vote is the Brownie Sundae)—worth the price and will feed AT LEAST two to three people!
    • Biergarten: I have to be honest, I recommend this restaurant to any and everyone!  Guys love the buffet which is chock-full of hearty meat-and-potato dishes. I go for the oompah band and to see my kids do the chicken dance!
    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
