We will be arriving at WDW in the late afternoon/early evening in a 11 days. Do you have any recommedations for that first eveing for my husband and our 7 year old daughter and I? This is our first trip and what the first night special.

    Hi Barb!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel!

Have you considered going to Downtown Disney for your first evening?  There is a lot of great shopping and restaurants there.  Raglan Road and Paradiso 37 are two of my favorite Table Service restaurants there.  Earl of Sandwich is a great casual sandwich shop if you want to visit and can't get an Advance Dining Reservation at a Table Service restaurant.

You should also consider going to Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge for your first evening, especially if you can still get an Advance Dining Reservation for Boma, a buffet restaurant there, or Sanaa. There are a lot of activities going on throughout the lodge, including animal watching with night vision goggles that children find fascinating.  You can definitely spend time there exploring the lodge and it has a very good food court if you can't get into Boma or Sanaa.

Another option is to explore the Magic Kingdom monorail resorts.  You can hop on and off the monorail at the Polynesian, the Contemporary, and the Grand Floridian and explore the grounds and shops at each.  You don't have to enter the theme park and you won't need a ticket.

I hope this helps!  Please write back with more questions!
