We will be arriving in WDW on Dec. 1st! We are staying at PO Riverside for the 1st time and have a water view room booked but I'm concerned about walking distance between our room and the food court/buses. Would it be best to switch to a preferred room?

    Hi there, Tonya!

The first time I stayed at Disney's Port Orleans - Riverside, I was overwhelmed with how gorgeous the expansive property is. It really did feel like stepping back to a different snapshot in time.

But along with the rolling stretches of green, the footpaths, the arched bridges over the Sassagoula River, comes, as you note, a great deal of walking.

If you have any concerns about anyone in your travel party being comfortable with extensive walking - particularly at the end of a long day of walking! - you might very well want to request a preferred room. Odds are that the view won't make too much of a difference, as you will likely spend a minimal amount of time in your room. And the minor difference in cost is well overshadowed by the difference in comfort and convenience.

    Have a wonderful trip!

    See you later, celebrator,
    -Deborah B.
