Hi. We will be arriving from the UK on Friday for two weeks of Disney magic! We are staying in Marriott Spinghill Suites, Lake Buena Vista which I believe is quite close to Downtown Disney. What is the best way of travelling to the parks? Thank you!

Hi, Jill! I am so excited (and jealous) that you're spending so much time at WDW on holiday!  You all are going to have such a great time together. Just to give you a "lay of the land" -- WDW includes more than 47 square miles of property which contains more than two dozen WDW-owned resorts. In addition, the property also includes a half dozen or so Downtown Disney hotels -- although they are not owned or operated by Disney -- which are in walking distance to the DTD resort area.

Although the hotel where you'll be staying is fairly close to the DTD resort area (as the crow flies), it is not accessible by walking or by Disney transportation (buses, monorails or boats). It is actually just across Interstate 4 from WDW property, and it is an Official WDW Good Neighbor Hotel -- which means that it has Disney's "approval." In addition to being Disney Vacation Club members, we are Marriott Rewards members and frequently tack-on days at Marriott-owned Orlando hotels to extend our Disney vacations.

Since you will be in the area for two weeks, I would recommend talking to your travel agent about rental car and parking discounts -- especially since airport or theme park transportation won't be included with your resort.  Disney property is very easy to navigate with well-marked signs for directions at almost every turn. In addition, you will enjoy some amenities such as a microwave, coffeemaker and small refrigerator in your room. Therefore, you may want to take advantage of the Publix Supermarket (down the street on Vineland Avenue) to pick up essentials and snacks for your stay.

Let me know if I can help you further. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation!
