We will be arriving 11/5 and traveling from MCO to Port Orleans Riverside. I heard there is road closures due to the marathon. Can you please give us the best directions to avoid road closures from the airport to the hotel? Can’t read the map. Thx!

Hi Leza! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question!

Oh boy! Only about a week away until you arrive at the Walt Disney World Resort! Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside is an absolute dream place to stay during your vacation. I had the pleasure of staying here on a recent trip and fell in love with the charm of this resort. And with boat access to Disney Springs, you are a leisurely ride away from several restaurants and shopping locations!

Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend is set to take place from November 3rd to November 6th. On the date of your arrival, the Disney Wine & Dine 10K will begin early in the morning, starting at 5 AM. This is the only race on this day and is a much shorter course than the half marathon, which is held on November 6th. I took a peek at the anticipated course layout and it should not interfere much with your route from the Orlando International Airport to Port Orleans - Riverside. If there is a road closure on Epcot Center Drive or Bonnet Creek Parkway, you'll be able to navigate around it to make it to your resort. Also, keep in mind that the race will end fairly early in the day, so if you are traveling to your resort after 10 AM or so, you shouldn't run into any issues regarding the race.

I suggest using a navigation app on your mobile device to help get around. These will typically account for any road closures and take you on the best route possible to your resort. If there is a detour, the navigation app will change your course and route you in the most efficient way possible. To completely bypass the race altogether, you can take exit 68 off of I-4. Make a left onto Hotel Plaza Boulevard and then a right onto E Buena Vista Drive. Then, make a left onto Disney Vacation Club Way and then a right onto Bonnet Creek Parkway. You'll then see a sign on the right side of the road for Port Orleans - Riverside. This route takes you around Disney Springs and does not interfere at all with the 10K.

Leza, I hope this information helps you plan for your stay! Stop back and see us again at planDisney!

    See ya real soon!
