Hello Holli and welcome to planDisney!
There is something special about
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort-French Quarter. I don’t know if it’s the beautiful landscape, the quiet beauty of the Sassagoula River, or if it could just be the Mickey shaped beignets! Whatever it is, I love the French Quarter!
One of the other great things about staying at the French Quarter is that Guests are welcome to wander on over to
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort-Riverside and enjoy the
Ol’ Man Island swimming hole! As sister resorts, you can explore the pools at both locations at your leisure, and both pool areas are amazing!
Ol’ Man Island at Riverside will keep you splashing with over three and a half acres of old fashioned down on the bayou fun! Give the 95-foot water slide a ride through the old millworks! It’s the perfect spot for a resort day!
If you want a little bit more laid-back vibe,
Doubloon Lagoon at the French Quarter is the place to relax and hang out! The jazz music in the background and a few trips to the poolside retreat Mardi Grogs make for a great day at Doubloon Lagoon! Plus, Scales the snaking sea serpent slide is always waiting for its next victim!
My wife loves
Fulton’s General Store at Riverside. She always finds a hidden gem for a souvenir that she hasn’t been able to find anywhere else. So, take your Disney gift card with you when you head over to Riverside and stop into Fulton’s for a little shopping! Speaking of shopping, the other great benefit of staying at the French Quarter is the complimentary water taxi to Disney Springs! You will definitely need your Disney gift cards on that excursion!
Holli, have a great adventure, grab a beignet, and don’t forget to enjoy a Mickey Bar or two!
