Arriving to POR next month for my third stay and I can’t wait! This will be my first trip with a toddler- are bed rails available at the resort, and if so, can they be used on the pull down bed?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Lauren!

Congratulations on your third stay at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside and on your first visit to Walt Disney World Resort with your toddler! You are in for so much fun and adventure and I know you’re counting down the days until the magic begins.

You may certainly request bed rails in your room at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside. The best way to do this is by calling Walt Disney World Resort Reservations at (407) 939-1936 and asking to add the request to your reservation. You may also request bed rails when you arrive at your resort, but I always feel better knowing the request is on the reservation in advance.

While there is a pull-down bed in the 5th sleeper rooms at this resort, to my knowledge these beds aren’t compatible with bed rails. You could put your toddler in one of the Queen beds in your resort hotel room and install the bed rails there. Another option is to request a Pack ‘n Play for your toddler; mine always had great sleeps in those during our Disney trips.

Lauren, have you seen this Planning Guide for Parents of Preschool Kids & Little Ones? It’s a great resource for learning about Baby Care Centers, the best attractions for the toddler set, and more tips to make the most of every magical moment.

One of the great benefits of staying at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside is that you’ll also have access to the Doubloon Lagoon pool at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter, which features a super-cool splash pad area. On our visit last year, my daughter was so sad that she was too tall for this awesome spot to beat the heat, and I hope your little one has a splash-tastic time!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
