We are arriving in Orlando 2 days prior to taking our 3 day disney dream cruise. Then we'll be at WDW resort Carribean. Should we stay downtown disney prior to our cruise? What is recommended? And transportation for 4 downtown disney to the port ?

    Welcome aboard, Marc!

How exciting to hear that you've got a great land and sea combination type of vacation coming up. Those are the best ones to enjoy with family. Staying at a Disney resort a couple of days prior to sailing allows you and the family to enjoy some time at the parks or the many Disney resort amenities. The magic will then continue as you transport your family from your Walt Disney Resort to the Disney Dream cruise ship out of Port Canaveral.

The best and most convenient way of traveling from your Disney Resort to Port Canaveral is booking ground transfers directly with Disney Cruise Line Ground Transportation. You can call your travel agent or the Disney Cruise Line travel desk directly at 1-800-951-3532 to add this to your cruise reservation. There is a an additional charge of $35 per person each way. This fee includes baggage handling and the motor coach pickup from your Disney resort straight to the steps of the check-in counter at Port Canaveral. If you end up adding ground transportation to your reservation, you will receive special Disney Cruise Line luggage tags for check-in luggage. The night before embarkation day, you will get a letter in your Disney hotel room. The letter will advise you about check-in luggage pickup as well as where to meet for your motor coach boarding the following morning. When my family cruised a couple of weeks ago, bell services picked up our luggage at around 8am from our hotel room. We saw our luggage at about 2pm at our stateroom on board the ship. We met the Disney Cruise Line agents at our hotel lobby at about 11:30am (pickups can be anytime between 11-1pm), and we were led to the motor coach that whisked us to Port Canaveral in an hour.

Remember to keep your travel documents & any necessary daytime items (or medications) in a day bag to hand carry with you. You can also arrange Port Canaveral to MCO airport ground transfers on your way back home. Hope this helps!
    Bon voyage!
