Arriving Orlando airport 12/1 @ 2:15pm. Planned on relaxing at AKL, and having 8pm Princess dinner at 1900 Parke, now we found out about extra magic hours at MK. Should we keep our mellow 1st day, or do the MK xtra hours and reschedule dinner?

I'd stick with the relaxing first day.  Travel can be so unpredictable that having a chance to unwind rather than moving into the go-go-go pace can be so rewarding when starting a WDW trip.  And to have a chance to soak up all the magic and wonder of the Animal Kingdom Lodge is time well spent.

Also, we try to avoid evening Extra Magic Hours since we find them just as crowded, if not more crowded.  However, I wonder if you'd want to try and move your dinner reservation times back a bit since the fireworks are scheduled for 8 on December 1.  You could watch the fireworks first from the resort's shore off the Seven Seas Lagoon and then go enjoy dinner.  You may also want to arrive at the Grand Floridian early to enjoy all of its holiday splendor; it is one of the best resorts at Christmas with its amazing tree and life-size gingerbread house.
