We are arriving to ORD at 5L30 pm with 3 kids 5, 4 2 . Staying at Grand Floridian taking the disney transportation from the airport. Any thoughts on timing how long I should allow for airport to hotel transfer? Thoughts on dinner for that night?

What an excellent choice for a hotel, Meghan!  Disney's Grand Floridian Resort is gorgeous.  I would allow at least 90 minutes for transportation between the airport and your resort, as the Walt Disney World Resort is twenty miles from the airport and you don't know if there will be a Magical Express bus waiting for you when you arrive at the airport or whether you will have to wait a few minutes for one to arrive.  Additionally, there's always the chance that your Magical Express bus will be dropping guests off at other resorts before they reach the Grand Floridian.

If I were going to arrive at the airport around 5:30 pm with three small children, I'd plan on being pretty flexible about dinner that evening.  Be sure to have snacks on hand for the plane and bus rides if you want to hold off and have dinner on Disney property that night.  When you arrive at the Grand Floridian, you could grab a quick counter-service meal at the resort's Gasparilla Grill or you could arrange a reservation for 1900 Park Fare, which is a fun table service character meal.  I wouldn't imagine, though, that you could hope to arrive for a reservation before 7:30 pm.  Worrying about missing a dining reservation might add too much stress to your arrival day, but that is up to you.  If you do opt for 1900 Park Fare, call (407) WDW-DINE soon for a reservation.

Have a safe and wonderful adventure!
