We are arriving mid January for our first trip. Has anyone been at this time of the year? We are wondering how the weather is? Do we pack winter clothes? Thanks!

    Hi there Stephanie,

January is my birthday month and it is customary to celebrate each year at my Happy Place, Walt Disney World.  Over the years I have experienced anything from Spring-like temperatures with sunny skies to freezing cold with sleet and ice, but for the most part, the weather in January is mostly comfortable and the cooler temperatures are rather nice in comparison to those present in the Summer months!  Another bonus is the low crowd levels!  Most of January is notorious for lower than usual attendance at Disney World, so between the weather and the crowds, you're looking at a win-win situation!

Average temperatures in January are usually in the low 70's during the day and can fall into the mid to high 40's after the sun goes down.  The average humidity is at 50 to 60% so the evenings can really tend to feel a bit chilly.  I highly suggest dressing in layers that you can shed as the day progresses, and layer back on as temperatures drop in the evenings!  A light jacket and long pants should be sufficient for the evenings and it's not a bad idea to pack a few ponchos and an umbrella!

Be sure to check the local Orlando weather forecast a day or two before you arrive.  This way you'll know if there are any "out of the ordinary" cold fronts on the horizon!  If so, you'll definitely want to add a heavier jacket, gloves, hats, and scarves to the mix!  Otherwise, "Autumn" attire should be just fine!

    Best Wishes,
