Hi Sharon,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. My family usually drives to Walt Disney World, so I am very familiar with your question – in fact, I’m writing this answer while in a Disney resort, and we just experienced the situation you describe today!
When you arrive at your resort hotel, you can check-in with Bell Services about your luggage options. Usually you have three options. The first is to leave your bags in your car, leave the car in your resort parking lot, and use Walt Disney World transportation to arrive at Magic Kingdom (or whichever park you’re visiting). The second is to leave your bags in your car and drive to the theme parks. The Bell Services Cast Member I spoke to this morning assured me that the theme park parking lots are very secure, with Security Cast Members constantly making rounds through the lots. We went with option three: leaving your bags in the resort’s luggage room. From there, you can either pick up the bags yourself when your room is ready, or go straight to your room and call Bell Services, who will deliver the bags to your room. Make sure you have some cash on hand to tip your friendly Bell Services Cast Member, and think about what items from your luggage you might need while you’re in the parks or if you want to visit the pool at your resort before your room is ready.
Sharon, have a safe drive to Walt Disney World and enjoy your arrival day! The Disney Parks Blog recently published a fun story about
arrival day traditions, which is full of great ideas for sprinkling extra pixie dust on your arrival at “the most magical place on earth.”
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
