Your 8 year old granddaughter is very lucky! You will surely cherish every memory of your first time visit with her!
Planning for a Walt Disney World trip is exciting and fun. Since you are coming in August you will have some time in the next few weeks to sit and read about the parks. Use the Disney World site,
www.disneyworld.com, as your reference and if you can, buy a guide book at the bookstore. I love
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Walt Disney World, by Doug Ingersoll as well as
Birnbaum's Official Guide to Walt Disney World.
Choose one park for each day and make a list of the attractions that are important for you to see including your granddaughter's wishes. Check out the dining facilities at each park and choose something that appeals to all three of you. You will want to have a plan and be as familiar as possible with the layout and understand you don't have to follow it strictly. The crowds in the summer are large and the weather generally quite hot so make sure you are also aware of the Fast Pass system for those attractions that are the most popular.
Since you will be gearing a trip for an 8 year old plug in some pool or water park time as well. It is hot in August and the crowds will be large and relaxing by the pool will be inviting!
When you have your plan remember that you can make dining and entertainment reservations up to 90 days of your arrival. 407-939-3463 This is important as many places fill quickly. As you start making your arrangements and please feel free to check back with the mom's panel if more questions come up. We love to help!!!!
