Hi Lindsey!
Your trip is just around the corner! I'd be very excited too!!!
Port Orleans French Quarter is by far my personal favorite 'moderate' level resort. You're going to love it! Be SURE to try the beignets as you pass by the
Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory during your stay. They are heavenly!
You have two different options available to you to get you from POFQ to The Contemporary to enjoy dinner with Mickey & friends on your arrival day.
Your most direct option is to take the bus from your resort to the Magic Kingdom. Upon arrival at the bus depot there, you may walk the short pathway over to the Contemporary and proceed upstairs to Chef Mickeys (about a 5-10 minute walk) or you can head in the other direction and board the Resort Monorail to ride the "highway in the sky" to get there! It's just one stop away. Allow yourself at least 60 minutes total travel time from the time you leave your resort room since you may spend a short time waiting for the bus & monorail.
If you find that you have plenty of time between arriving at your resort and needing to head up to dine with Mickey, a FUN option would be to walk through your resort down to the boat dock on the Sassagoula River. Board the boat to the
Downtown Disney Area and enjoy some amazing shopping & browsing! By no later than 5:30/5:45pm proceed to the Downtown Disney bus depot and board a bus directly to Disney's Contemporary Resort!
Wishing you a very Magical time on your Walt Disney World vacation Lindsey!
Please visit me again if I can be of any further assistance to you.
