Hello there Leanne, and welcome back to planDisney! How exciting that you'll be visiting the "Happiest Place on Earth" here soon!
I used the
Disneyland app on my mobile phone plenty of times before I purchased a MagicBand+ to scan our
theme park tickets, utilize
Disney Genie+ Service, and it all worked great. To scan your theme park tickets, open up the Disneyland app and tap the three horizontal bar line icon in the bottom right-hand corner. You'll then see the "Tickets and Passes" in the upper left-hand corner, and you can tap for access to your tickets to scan right into the parks using your mobile phone. Since you purchased a
Good Neighbor Hotel Vacation Package, your Travel ePackage will be delivered electronically to your linked Disney account 4 days prior to your arrival. You'll then be able to add your theme park tickets to your app.
If you did not purchase Disney Genie+ Service in advance with your vacation package, no worries! As soon as you scan into the parks for the day, navigate back to the home screen of the Disneyland app, and you'll see the "Purchase" button for Disney Genie+ Service right on the home screen. As soon as you purchase, you'll be ready to make your first
Lightning Lane selection! In the Disneyland app, tap the three horizontal bar line icon in the bottom right-hand corner, and then tap "Tip Board". Here you'll be able to scroll through the list of attractions in both parks and see the return times available for each attraction that offers a Lightning Lane entrance.
Once you see one that you'd like to redeem, tap the Lightning Lane button for that selected attraction and then press continue to confirm your selection. Your Tip Board will show your Lightning Lane selection as "Booked". When your selection is ready to redeem, you will see a notification on your home screen where you can tap to be able to scan the Lightning Lane selection at the attraction entrance.
A tip that I always use at the parks is to set an alarm on my phone for when I can make my next Lightning Lane selection. That way I'm not constantly opening up my Disneyland app, and wasting precious phone battery!
I hope this information was helpful for your upcoming trip Leanne, if you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to
come back and ask!
Have a magical trip!
Melissa
