Michael from VA Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

We are arriving for our Disney World vacation on July 27, 2024, staying on-site. Disney is moving to the new Lightning Lane Multi Pass on July 24, 2024. Will we be able to make our ride selections 7 days in advance, on July 20, 2024, as on-site guests?

    Hi Michael!

Welcome to planDisney!  What an exciting summer it has been at Walt Disney World Resort this year!  The latest announcement about Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass is just the most recent update to a summer that’s been filled with new attractions, special nighttime spectaculars, and more

Michael, Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass go live on July 24, 2024.  This means that you will have to wait until that date to start making your purchases and selections, but you’ll be happy to know that as a Guest at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, you can do so for the entire length of your stay when it begins - up to 14 days!  You can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass through your My Disney Experience Mobile App beginning at 7:00 AM on July 24.

In the meantime, you can start reviewing the list of available attractions on the Walt Disney World website.  With Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you'll be able to pre-select arrival windows for three attractions for Lightning Lane entry.  At Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios you can select one attraction from the first group and two attractions from the second group.  At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, you can choose any three available attractions.  One of my favorite features of the new system is that you'll have a chance to make your selections before purchasing so you'll know exactly what you're buying when you checkout.  Lightning Lane Single Pass is replacing what is currently referred to as an Individual Lightning Lane and is available for just one or two of the most in-demand rides per park.  There is a limit to two Lightning Lane Single Pass purchases per day, per Guest.

It's also worth noting that even though changes are happening with Lightning Lane entry, the Virtual Queue process will remain unchanged.  Currently, Virtual Queues are available for Tiana's Bayou Adventure and TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom Park as well as Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT.  Opportunities to join the Virtual Queues will still be available at 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM.  As a reminder, you can only be in one Virtual Queue at a time!

Michael, I hope this helps as you prepare for you upcoming trip - it will be here before you know it!  Please don't hesitate to stop by and see me or any of my panelist pals here at planDisney with any other questions you may have as you get ready for your vacation!

Wishing you a most magical time!
