We are arriving in Disney 2/12 w/ my son age 3.5. I just measured him & he is 41 inches. I noticed that he meets the min. requirement for Big Thunder Mountain, Test Track & Soarin. I was wondering whether they are appropriate for him?

    Hi, Kimberly!

    Great questions!

Your little man will be just fine on all of these rides!  My own little ones rode all three of those rides at about that same age and loved them.

On Test Track, there's nothing scary, nothing dark, so he should really love the whole "behind the scenes in a car factory" element of this attraction.  Prepare him, though, for what (SPOILER ALERT!) appears to be an upcoming CRASH into a wall.  Instead, the "wall" opens, and your car zooms around the outdoor track at a speed of up to 60+ mph.  As long as he knows that you are all safe, and that this is part of the "make-believe", he should be fine on that one.

Soarin', on the other hand, is nothing but tranquil, lovely flight footage, with a wonderful soundtrack to help soothe you into the appropriate state of wonder as you gaze at scene after scene of some of the most truly lovely landscapes you've ever laid eyes on.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a great introduction to roller coasters.  It is a smooth, well-lit ride, with quite a few sudden drops and turns, but with no loops, corkscrews or creepy story lines.

I found that talking up the big drops or the surprises around the corner (as they occur) really helped my little guys to understand that these experiences are fun, not scary. All three of those you've mentioned are not designed to scare Guests at all, so I say give them all a try!

Enjoy this trip to Walt Disney World with you little one who is ready to try new adventures!  Have your camera ready, too...you're going to need it!
