We will be arriving at Disney later this month staying at the Riverside. Any tips on what to pack to take into the parks each day? We're on the dining plan so won't be packing food.

    Hi Christine,

The key to being comfortable and well-equipped during a day in a Walt Disney World park is not to weigh yourself down too much but still have the necessities in hand.

Because February weather can be unpredictable, I suggest a light jacket for everyone and a rain poncho. I bring the inexpensive ones you can buy at your local drugstore with me this time of year. Any showers likely will be light, not the afternoon monsoons you get in summer.

Other items in my normal Disney bag: hand sanitizer, tissues, sunscreen, sunglasses, smartphone and/or camera, a water bottle, pens (especially if you are going to be getting character autographs), my ID and a small amount of cash. I also have a little kit with a few Band-Aids, a couple of antiseptic wipes and a small supply of analgesics, just in case of a blister, scrape or a headache. (I love the area of discount stores that sell supplies in travel sizes.)

I also carry a power cord for my phone, in case I need to recharge. There is a charging station area now at Magic Kingdom, between it's a small world and the Haunted Mansion, and you can usually find a plug-in in other places to give yourself a power boost.

Even though you have the dining plan, you also may want to tuck a protein bar or some small packets of dried fruit or other light snacks in your bag, just in case one of you has a sudden need for a little pick-me-up while your are in a line or away from a snack venue.

That probably sounds like a lot, but all of it except my jacket fits in my cross-body bag. My husband usually brings a backpack that is the designated jacket repository.

I hope that gives you some good guidance. Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. Enjoy your Walt Disney World vacation!
