I will be arriving at Disney on 8/4. I’m a former Disney a college Program attendee! Super excited to bring my niece back for her first Disney experience. I’m planning our day and packing our bags. Are backpacks with a water reservoirs allowed?

    Hi there, Dawnshetta!

Welcome to planDisney and thank you for stopping by with your exciting Walt Disney World Resort vacation planning question. As a former Disney College Program participant, I'm sure you're thrilled to revisit The Most Magical Place on Earth with family, especially to celebrate a First Visit trip! (Don't forget to pick up that complimentary celebration button from Guest Relations for your niece.) I can't imagine how special your return to the Walt Disney World Resort is going to feel. I'm here to help you prepare for an unforgettable vacation!

Dawnshetta, I'm excited to hear you're putting thought into packing for your upcoming trip. After all, the countdown is almost over! It's important to stay hydrated while spending time in the theme parks, especially during the warm summer months. I'm happy to inform you that water reservoir backpacks are permitted in the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks! According to the property rules, all Guest belongings are subject to search upon entry to the theme parks, so please note that the backpack may be searched at security checkpoints. During your time in the theme parks, you'll be able to fill up your water reservoir at drinking fountains and bottle refill stations, which are generally located near the restrooms. You can use the My Disney Experience mobile app to help you locate restrooms throughout the Walt Disney World Resort!

When my family visits during warmer times of the year, we almost always visit a Disney water park. (Who am I kidding? As Michiganders, we enjoy the water parks even during the winter months!) Have you considered visiting Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park with your niece during your stay? With rides and attractions of various thrill levels, it's a splash-tastic place for Guests of all ages and stages to chill out on a hot day. If you decide to visit the water park, I recommend sharing a Sand Pail Sundae from Happy Landings Ice Cream, Dawnshetta. (But, be sure to grab some extra napkins!) Alternatively, you could relax at your Disney Resort hotel's pool area for a mid-day break.

I hope you've found this information helpful as you gear up for a magical and memorable trip to the Walt Disney World Resort! If you have any additional questions before or during your trip, please stop back by planDisney again anytime. We're here to help you make special memories at The Most Magical Place on Earth!

    See ya real soon,

    Lauren
